Hi! I'm Danaé
Art has always been more than a pastime or hobby for me, it has been a source of comfort and a form of communication. As someone who often has difficulty expressing their emotions or ideas, art has always been my way of conveying them. I’ve had the honor of learning from multiple talented artists who have shaped and continue to shape me.  I have won 1st Place in the Marywood University Research Day 2023 Undergraduate CAS Poster Competition and was selected for the International Typoday 2022 Poster Contest. I have also participated in many exhibitions such as the 2019 Human Rights Exhibition “An Artist Response to Human Rights” presented by SUNY Orange, the Orange County Arts Council Arts Showcase, the 2020 National Congressional Art Show, the annual Zeta Omicron Kappa Pi Honor Society Show from 2021-2023, and the Marywood 2024 Senior Exhibition. Art is the only way I can truly express myself and my struggles and amplify the ideas and struggles of those around me.
Even when I was drawing people with popcorn-like hands at age 10, I knew that I wanted to be an artist. I have always had a passion for graphic design and illustration which can be seen in my work. I believe they go hand in hand and add to my creative outlook and approach to projects.  My process varies from project to project, sometimes there is a spark of an idea that flows out on its own or there are countless thumbnails and sketches to achieve an idea or concept. The subject matters of my pieces are inspired by a vast array of topics such as music, current events, personal experience, and my imagination. Like most artists I’m a perfectionist; I view my work as a reflection of myself and my abilities. I’m always looking for new ways to improve and challenge myself. As a former sophomore transfer student from a school that completely cut its art program, I’m beyond thankful for the opportunity to continue to grow with others who still appreciate and value the arts.
